    POEM

HURRICANE KATRINA

Hurricane Katrina she came whirling,
blowing, hovering over New Orleans
down Arkansas and Mississippi too
who do you blame because help
came not too soon.

Faith to amazing grace we humbling
ourselves to thee, cries about
tomorrow reminiscent of yesterday
bouncing around and around in search
of our future and just maybe new
goals too.

Political politician came too late
they must have though they were
watching the late night show or
a Sci Fi movie.

Down pour the water and the levees
too, cities brought to their knees
by Hurricane Katrina, they say race
and class play a big role, who would
have thought?

Katrina's deal these cards the deuce
became wild and the joker too,
people are dying, crying and still
being displaced.

History will be told for many years
the cat was let out of the bag about
race and class in the land of the free.
