POEMS
The United States

The United States of America
You say this is my country
The land of the free,
But I am of
Color …
Do you really mean me?

Am I really free?

—Lillian E. Mitchum

IF I WERE YOU

IF I WERE YOU
I WOULD WALK HIM OUT OF MY MIND
IF I WERE YOU
I WOULD SING ANOTHER TUNE
IF I WERE YOU
I WOULD LOOK FOR SOMEONE ELSE

SINCE I AM NOT YOU…
MAYBE YOU SHOULD DO WHAT IS BEST FOR YOUR SITUATION

—Lillian E. Mitchum
